In 2018, Circular Future has carried out a Circularity Check for 11 Frisian SME companies through an interview based on a checklist in the context of a pilot for the Province of Friesland (Frysia). This scan was highly appreciated by the participating companies.

The Circularity Check is developed by Circular Future as part of the work for Ecopreneur and MVO Nederland on Circular Economy advocacy.  It is a questionnaire of about 60 questions for SMEs and companies that determines a circularity score for a specific product and / or service. Is the product circular and sustainable, and if so, to what extent? A score is assigned to each question. The higher the score the better. The outcome of the check is a % that indicates how circular your product / service is. The Check also provides partial scores on design / procurement / manufacturing, delivery, use, recovery and sustainability.

Based on the results of the pilot, the Checklist was further improved. Ecopreneur works on making the English version of the Circularity Check available for online use.
